Brittany Lin, Co-President
Brittany is a senior studying economics. Reigning from Southern California, Brittany enjoys going to the beach, playing volleyball and rugby, and running. She is also always eager and excited to try new things, especially new and interesting culinary delights. After four years with HMC at four different conferences, this year's San Francisco conference will be here ninth conference, and the Boston conference will be her tenth and final conference as an HMC staffer. Brittany's background lies in the Congress, as she was the President of the Senate at HMC 2008 and has chaired in both the House and the Senate. She was an HMC mentor at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School last year and welcomes any questions about the program. Needless to say, Brittany is incredibly excited about the upcoming year in HMC and hopes you are too!
Meaghan Graul

Meaghan Graul, Co-President
Meaghan Graul is a senior at Harvard originally from Nahant, MA. She is concentrating in economics and writing her senior thesis on the economic implications of government funding of nonprofit organizations. She has been involved with HMC since her freshman year and has participated in the Boston, San Francisco and Europe conferences. She has also been an HMC Mentor for the past two years. When not planning HMC, Meaghan enjoys sailing, running, cooking and watching the Red Sox.
Ariel Stoddard

Ariel Stoddard, Vice President
Ariel Stoddard is a junior concentrating in East Asian Studies and Economics. She loves music and has been playing the violin for 15 years. Her favorite things to do include baking cupcakes, eating anything sweet, and hanging out with her friends. This is her third year participating in Harvard Model Congress, and she also attends HMC conferences in Asia and Europe!

Glenn Alterman is a junior studying economics and minoring in government. Outside of class, Glenn enjoys listening to music and rooting for his favorite sports team, the New York Yankees. Glenn loves the summertime and wishes that it was warm in Boston year round. This is Glenn's third year participating in Harvard Model Congress; he
is also a member of Harvard Model Congress Asia.
Vasiliki Katsarou

Vasiliki Katsarou, Chief of Staff
Vasiliki Katsarou is a sophomore studying Government and planning on having a secondary field in Anthropology and Human Rights. She is especially interested in issues of Human Rights and ethics. She comes from Greece and loves good food and sunny weather. In her free time, she loves to practice Latin dances and theater.
Monica Vanderslice

Monica Vanderslice, Director of Mentoring
Monica Vanderslice is a senior studying Psychology, with a more specific focus in Developmental Psychology. She works in the Harvard Lab for Developmental Studies, where she runs studies with infants and toddlers to help us to understand how children think and learn. She also works with children as a nanny and loves having a job that she truly enjoys. Monica grew up in Pennsylvania and plans to live there after finishing her Harvard career. She hopes to attend graduate school to become a Nurse Practitioner and would like to work with premature infants. Her interests include music, yoga, being a Washington Redskins fan, the city of Pittsburgh, and, of course, HMC! Monica comes from a Special Programs background at HMC and has served as a West Wing junior and senior staffer at the past two Boston conferences, as well as a staffer at HMC Asia in 2007. Monica is looking forward to a great year at HMC with all the students, staff, and especially the mentors and mentees!
Zoe Kawaller

Zoe Kawaller, Faculty Liaison
Zoe is a senior at Harvard College living in Leverett House. Zoe hails from Brooklyn, NY. She has been a part of HMC since 2005, when she was a delegate in the Senate. She has vice-chaired or chaired a Senate committee at the Boston conference every year since her freshman year. As Government major, she focuses on international relations and human rights. Zoe also loves theatre and has acted in several Harvard productions.

Basima Tewfik, San Fran Director of Operations
Basima is a sophomore economics concentrator at Harvard. In addition to HMC San Francisco, she is involved in other activities such as Harvard Model Congress Europe and Boston, Women in Business, and intramural sports. She enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and hanging out with friends. She is very excited about attending the San Francisco conference in January.
Sam Roosz

Sam Roosz, San Fran Director of Programs
Sam Roosz is a junior at Harvard with strong interests in government and biology. Sam is very excited about San Francisco 2009 and is looking forward to viewing the conference from a fresh perspective. Aside from his involvement in the many facets of HMC, Sam also is quite involved in his Christian organization on campus and volunteers at the homeless shelter in Cambridge. The issues that drive Sam include energy management, poverty, and world health; Sam hopes to one day find a career that will incorporate each of these items. In his free time, he can be found cheering on his favorite American football teams, playing videogames with his roommates, tossing around a frisbee, or eating.
Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, President of the Senate
Michael is a junior concentrating in Government. He also has a secondary concentration in Philosophy. he is from Orland Park, IL, which is a southwest suburb of Chicago. Michael follows politics compulsively and has worked for Barack Obama since he ran for Senate in 2004. He enjoys reading books on international relations and philosophy, and his favorite sports team is the Chicago Cubs. Michael plans to pursue a career in politics and government after graduation.
Laura de la Garza

Laura de la Garza, Speaker of the House
Laura de la Garza is a junior from McAllen, Texas, studying Government and Health Policy. She loves shopping, watching classic movies, and singing in her church choir. This is her fourth HMC conference, including one overseas, and she is incredibly excited to be playing the role of Nancy Pelosi, her role model.

Laura Dean, Director of Special Programs
The Director of Special Programs, Laura Dean, is a junior in Dunster House studying history and women's studies. After graduating from college, she is interested in pursuing a career in medicine, particularly serving those in developing countries. Laura has been involved in HMC, as a delegate, a staff member, or an Executive Board member for six years and is looking forward to another great year!
